The Asian Muslim Action Network (AMAN) is a unifying force for peace and social action in Asia. Its innovative programs have affected change and bridged political and religious divides since its inception in 1990. Its unique approach engages intellectuals, political and religious leaders, associations and activists of all faiths in dialogue that help resolve conflict and promote peace.
With over 800 million Muslims, Asia has 70% of the world’s Muslim population. They face many challenges from mass poverty and corruption to social and political unrest. The present situation of growing violence and both state and non-state terrorism calls for a united response to address root causes of conflict. AMAN promotes the eternal values and principles of truth, justice, compassion, freedom and equality as embodied in the Qur’an.
To build understanding and solidarity among Muslims and other faith communities in Asia and develop programs that lead to people’s empowerment, human rights, justice and peace.
• To develop a progressive enlightened approach to Islam which would reflect the true essence of the religion
• To create a community of fellowship and solidarity amongst progressive enlightened Muslims in Asia.
• To participate in the creation of a just compassionate society in Asia which would uphold the dignity of all the people of the continent and beyond.
